Community Information

Palm Coast Florida

Welcome to Palm Coast Florida!

One of Flagler County's favorite locales, Palm Coast is a charming "Old Florida" city by the sea. Since its early days, Palm Coast has been able to properly maintain and preserve its ecologically diverse backdrop, while paving the way for residents to establish themselves and their future in Palm Coast. The city has been of much interest as a desireable, coastal northeastern Florida locale for quite sometime. Vacationers looking for fun in the sun and new homebuyers following their dreams all have found themselves at home in Palm Coast. The vibrant landscape, pleasing climate and miles of shoreline have attracted thousands of people throughout the years to the city of Palm Coast.

Development of the area began in 1969, where 48,000 home sites were planned spanning over 42,000 acres of Florida land. The paved roads, central water and sewer systems of Palm Coast were all developed at this time, bringing growth opportunities and access to the area. At this time as well, Palm Coast's extensive water management system was designed to lessen the development's impact on the environment. This water management system included 46 miles of freshwater canals and 23 miles of saltwater canals. This environmental measure had one great side effect though, it brought about some of Palm Coast's most treasured features; stellar vistas for many residents and boating access into the Intracoastal Waterway were now commonplace in this budding township.

Soon after Palm Coast decided to become an incorporated city and form a centralized local government. In 1999, the official City of Palm Coast was incorporated and by 2000, all services were transferred from the former Service District to the newly formed city. Development services, police and rescue services, street construction and maintenance, parks and recreational activities were all now under the guidance of the City of Palm Coast. This change has provided the city with the ability to more accurately care for and assess the services it provides to residents, and plan for a brighter tomorrow for both current and future citizens of Palm Coast Florida.

Palm Coast is known for its ability to couple small town sensibilities with larger city and modern day convenience, making it a shining example of great Florida living. At its heart, Palm Coast embodies all the characteristics of a classic Florida town- a supportive community that embraces its natural settings- while also providing the proper foundation for businesses and other modern industries to flourish as well. Palm Coast has adopted a process of an Economic Development Strategic Plan to better showcase the city has prospective target market. For these reasons, the Wall Street Journal has recognized the City of Palm Coast as the 4th fastest growing "micropolis" in the southeastern United States. High-tech research parks and other commercial districts are already in development and will soon join the growing number of other business throughout Palm Coast.

The City of Palm Coast is as concerned with the development of its youth and their education, as it is with commercial centers and business parks. The city itself is known for providing and maintaining some of the area's best public schools as well as housing superb private institutions and higher education opportunities. Embry-Riddle University, Bethune-Cookman University, Stetson University, University of Central Florida, and Daytona Beach College are listed among Florida's leading colleges and are all within short distance to Palm Coast, making education as much a community features as the stunning canals that intersect the city.

Palm Coast is a city where recreation and activity are just as native as the lush trees, varied wildlife and waterfront breezes are in this Northeastern Florida region. The city prides itself on being able to provide some of the most accessible and organized opportunities for outdoor leisure. The Palm Coast Parkway Greenway Project has turned donated land into a relaxing yet active park along canals in the Palm Coast Parkway Corridor. Trails within the park allow for both hiking and biking, and the canal-front setting brings a soothing calm to those wishing to get away from it all. The canals the weave through the many neighborhoods across Palm Coast allow boating access to the Intracoastal Waterway, a prime area for all sorts of water fun including fishing, water skiing and swimming.

When it comes to remaining physically fit, Palm Coast has some of the best facilities around. The City of Palm Coast's newest recreation facility, the Indian Trails Sports Complex, boasts four lighted baseball fields, four lighted soccer fields, two covered pavilions with picnic tables and a playground for the children. Open for public use, the City-owned Frieda Zamba Aquatic Complex is perfect for those who enjoy a swimming workout. And for the active golfer in the family, there many different golf courses all throughout the Palm Coast region, each one varying in skill set and length but all welcoming nonetheless. Biking, bird-watching, boating, fishing, swimming and various other athletic activities are all available throughout the city limits.

The prosperity, education, safety and general welfare of its citizens are top priorities for the community of Palm Coast. Through the City Council's and Mayor's shared vision, Palm Coast is planned to become a guiding force for other communities throughout the Northeast of Florida but the entire state. Palm Coast is a leader in terms of quality of life, access to nature, and professional services provided to its residents through its full range municipal services, high standards and excellent traits that the city hopes to display to other communities so they too can grant their citizens the best that Florida has to offer.
